It's called this way and it's news as such... :)

A faithful visitor of Mrs Darcy's suggested to open a Facebook group concerning Mrs Darcy's Story Site. I thought it an interesting idea but didn't know where to find the time! However, in the end I found the thought so tempting that I've decided to give it a shot.

So, Mrs Darcy requests the pleasure of the company of her LJ friends and other interested members at her brand new Facebook group News From Mrs Darcy's Story Site", a public group for the exchange of news and announcements concerning Jane Austen and the Jane Austen fandom in general and from Mrs Darcy's in particular. The group is public, anyone can join, and apart from reading the announcements and news, the members are free to post their information on anything Jane Austen, Jane Austen fanfiction, adaptations etc. if they feel so inclined.

As I write this post 64 fans have joined.

Looking forward to meeting you at "NFMDSS"

R~

...Eurovision Song Contest:

In no particular order, France: Patricia Kaas is an excellent singer, Lithuania, just a very nice love song, Iceland is sweet, I love Israel's song for the positive message and as far as Estonia's concerned, I'm such a sucker for the cello. Besides, the girls look adorable. haha

I'll probably only watch the results, have enough of the songs already, heard them too often and some horrible ones I just can't get out of my head, like the Dutch song. *shudder*

The Dutch are SO not going to reach the finals! LOL And rightfully so. It's bloody pathetic. Three men bordering their forties (or already in their forties) dressed up like idiots and singing a cheap crappy song of which they are ten a penny. *shudder*

Watched the first rehearsal in Moscow on YouTube. I'm too embarrassed to even post the link.

Four killed, 13 wounded, amongst whom 6 severely... Todat it's our national holiday, aka "Queen's Day". It's former queen Juliana's birthday, but still celebrated by Beatrix as if it were her own. The royal family has this habit to visit one town in the Netherlands each year and join in the festivities. Just when they were leaving for Princess Margriet's palace, Beatrix' sister, a man drove his car through the barriers and hit 16 people in the audience after which he drove against a monument where the car finally came to a halt. In the meantime we know that this 38 year ol Dutchman did it intentionally, but his motive is unknown.

It's so sad. The city where the queen and her court pass the day starts preparing that day a year in advance. Schools, clubs... you name it, rehearse stuff and well, just look forward to it tremendously. This is such a shock. The queen made a statement a couple of hours ago, and it was clear that she was in shock. So unexpected. It goes to show though that whatever security measures (which were excellent in principle) are made, one's just helpless against the actions of an individual. :(

Today I created a new LJ in which I will only post reviews of movies and books I think worth reviewing. I've done many over the years, but they're all sort of split up all over the Internet. This is an effective way to keep them all together. :)

Apart from reviews about movies I recently watched and books I've recently read, I'll gradually post old ones I've kept in my Word files.

The posts will all be public.

If you're interested, here it is. :)

I'm very sad. I just read on the Huffington Post that Natasha Richardson died. Horrible. A seemingly minor ski accident ending up like this! Poor husband, poor children, poor Vanessa, Joely and all the other members of her family and friends.

Not so long ago I bought the DVD of The White Countess in which she plays next to Ralph Fiennes and her mother Vanessa Redgrave. In an interview on the extra features her mother speaks so warmly about her.

It's just so unbelievable and absurd.

ETA:

I took this from one of the comments on the Huffington Post: "... but I've always been a big fan of Liam Nissan "

I bet he's driving a Neeson...

... The days at Longbourn were never the same for anyone after Darcy's parting. Even the cows were showing their displeasure at his withdrawal. Mr Foreman, the dairyman, was greatly vexed for he knew of the animals' inclination to develop a fondness for a particular pair of hands ...

chapter 13 of Malena's "Parson's Pleasure...

And... Her hilarious new one in which a body swap is the theme...

... Charles Bingley looked up at the jet sky peppered with white stars high above and sighed. He was sad. Sad and depressed to a measure he had never knew till then. ...

Ganked from [info]n_e_star

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

It's been too long that I've written something, and a meme like this might induce me to look into some old stuff and see if I can decide whether it's worthwhile to give it a shot again. :)

Anyway, these are my favourite babies, all based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

- "Tempus Fugit", this story has a special place in my heart, because it's actually based on a RL experience.

- "And very Impolitic Too", my second (rather) long story but the first that I actually finished. I like it because of the background: my home town.

- "Horizon of Hope", a short story written for a Firthness challenge. I particularly like it because the IMHO dramatic effects. Its dickensian atmosphere even though it ought to have bene austenesque. ;) The last story I've written so far, BTW.

- "My Good Qualities Under Your Protection", the cutest wedding night for Darcy and Elizabeth I could think of. ;)

- "To Love Unselfishly: Mr. Darcy Faces His Ghosts". A story in three parts inspired by Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I'm particularly fond of this one since I've written it with two of my friends from the Jane Austen fandom, Lisa L and Roya.

If you're interested, you can find all my stories on my site

Won't tag, play along if you feel so inclined. :)

It sucks you in, it moves you, it frightens you, it makes you love and, hopefully in the end, will make you sigh with contentment. We're not there yet, fortunately not, I want to enjoy every single moment of it. :)

And, Matthew Macfadyen? A d o r a b l e... In one word.

And that's all I've got to say about it for now.
